Rusty Lewis is a guy who thought he had it all. A computer scientist, author, entrepreneur, and Fortune 500 executive with all the money and prestige he could ask for. He thought he was happy…but there was something missing ... he just didn’t know what that something was. He found what he was unknowingly searching for on a "learn to surf "vacation in Costa Rica where a chance wave sealed Rusty’s fate.

Rusty's life changed in a matter of seconds. That one moment – the perfect wave – was all it took. Rusty traded in the “American Dream” for a new life in Costa Rica – riding waves and living “pura vida.” He picked up a guitar for the first time in twenty years and started writing songs – songs based around seizing the moment, living life to the fullest. Rusty Lewis’ music is perhaps what you’d expect from a Texan living in Costa Rica – one part American pop, one part Latin groove, with a dash of jazz thrown in for good measure.

Rusty’s music, like his story, reminds us that the smallest unexpected event can change your life in fundamental ways, and that happiness can be found at any time, at any age, anywhere you are willing to look.

Rusty spends his time between the Republic of Texas and Costa Rica indulging his passions for music and surfing. Rusty can often be found performing at the Casa Tucan Hotel which he and his partners purchased in 2006. In Costa Rica, Rusty started the Pinguino Foundation, a charitable organization to support education and youth surfing in Guanacaste.
